As a lab intern, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals in a fast-paced environment where quality, safety, and precision directly impact the built environment.Core ResponsibilitiesA successful lab intern brings attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn core materials testing practices for soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete. You’ll succeed by following procedures closely, contributing accurate test data, collaborating with the team, and developing a solid foundation in construction materials testing that supports safe and reliable infrastructure. Perform standardized materials testing in both laboratory and field settings for concrete, asphalt binder, hot mix asphalt, soils, and aggregates. Support data-driven workflows, including basic software use for test documentation, data entry, and configuration of laboratory records. Assist with application updates, troubleshooting, and enhancements related to testing, reporting, and quality systems. Contribute to data analysis, report preparation, and accurate documentation of test results in accordance with established procedures. You’ll thrive here if you haveBasic understanding of the construction and infrastructure industry Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field Ability to follow standard laboratory and field-testing procedures with strong attention to detail Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel Willingness to work in a hands-on lab environment and occasionally outdoors Valid driver’s license with a good driving record Basic familiarity with construction materials testing concepts for concrete, asphalt, soils, and aggregates (ASTM/AASHTO exposure preferred) Ability to safely operate basic laboratory equipment and testing tools under supervision Understanding of standard lab documentation practices, including sample identification and test data recording Basic data entry and reporting skills using standard software applications (e.g., spreadsheets, test logs) Ability to follow written procedures, test methods, and quality control guidelines Willingness to learn and apply laboratory safety practices and proper material handling techniques Ability to travel locally and regionally, up to approximately 20–25% of the time Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to support project schedules Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions Ability to lift and safely handle materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Flexibility to adjust work hours based on laboratory and project demands Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and professional conduct What You Can Expect From UsThe A-Team Experience is our employee program focused on helping our people thrive professionally, personally and as part of a community.
