Description We are looking for an accounting internship as of September 2026. As an accounting trainee you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting: posting and processing journal entries to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly into the bookkeeping system; assisting in month and quarterly close activities and performing assigned reconciliations. You like to work in the field of accounting, you have problem solving skills, you are a team player who is helping out other members and always looking for improvement into existing processes and procedures. As an accounting trainee you will work closely to and together with junior, medior and senior accountants.
Key Responsibilities Posting of bank statements, G/L and transactional journals, this includes also the data transfer from other relevant systems
Perform weekly spot checks on P&L and balance sheet performed by shared administration services departments
Weekly follow-up on pending issues and escalation
Create re-charge invoices and monitoring the back office function
Assisting in month-end account closing activities and reconciliations
Assisting the Junior and Senior accountants, in accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes
Identify opportunities for improvements and opportunities for standardization
Improvement project: to be defined
Qualifications / skills following BSc or MSc in Finance / Accounting / Economics;
structured, organized and able to work under pressure
knowledge of Microsoft Business Central 365 is an advantage
an entrepreneurial mindset is important - being proactive, flexible and independent is a must
fluent in English. Dutch, French or Italian is a plus
to be eligible for an internship at citizenM, you must be enrolled in a study program as a student during this period. The internship suits the purposes of a learning experience.

Hybrid role, not fully remote. Expect 2-3 days in office per week
