Job Details Job ID #2448 Category Stormwater Compliance Status Open Full Time/Grade 25 Salary $23.49 Per Hour/Cell Allowance - $720.00 Annually Posted June 24, 2026 10:55 AM Closing Open Until Filled Tools POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for education and outreach on stormwater, pollution prevention, erosion control and other department-related missions. Programs are mostly geared toward the youth audience but may adjust to citizens of all ages and backgrounds to meet the current needs of the community and the Stormwater Compliance Department. This position will also coordinate adjunct programs at the landfill and provide education and outreach for applicable programs. This position must strive to maintain current standards and progressively modify programs to reflect sound practices as it relates to job duties. With supervision and support, this position serves to raise awareness and create and maintain a favorable public image of the Department and County by building strategic relationships, educating the community, conducting outreach activities, and effectively promoting the Department’s mission through print, electronic and social media platforms, and in-person events. This position helps with single family residential land disturbance permits (LDPs). This position manages all bonds related to residential, commercial, and subdivision LDPs, specifically environmental bonds, CO bonds, and performance and maintenance bonds. This position reports to the Environmental Manager. The Environmental Manager assigns work and provides general guidelines; however, the employee is expected to be able to work independently in determining the project scope and organizing work so that goals are reached and deadlines are met. Work is performed in the office and in the field. Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping and climbing. Work requires lifting both light (less than 25 pounds) and heavy (more than 25 pounds) objects. Contacts are typically with contractors, engineers, developers, regulatory agencies, citizens, and co-workers. This position has no direct reports. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Organizes, designs, and presents public education to meet the needs of the community as well ascorporations, schools, and other organizations. Checks and coordinates compliance with county regulations, codes, and specifications. Oversees compliance with and tracking for bonds. Assists with Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System compliance and reporting. Coordinates and oversees adjunct programs at the landfill. Supports Department’s Munis, Cityworks, Clariti, and other software programming needs. Maintains effective working relationships with other departments, schools, educational organizations, and the general public. Researches to identify grant funding opportunities that align with the Department’s mission and goals. Supports grant application development, paying close attention to the unique needs of each grant, as well as supporting the project as needed following award. Performs various administrative duties such as overall customer service answering phones. Assists the Environmental Manager, Stormwater Compliance Manager, and Department as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to apply knowledge of Federal, State and County codes, laws, regulations, and ordinances relating to land disturbance. Skill in maintaining effective working relationships with elected officials, co-workers, regulatory agency representatives, contractors, engineers, developers, teachers, non-profit representatives, and citizens. Ability to communicate effectively and positively both orally and in writing. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products. Solid knowledge of programs such as Canvas, ArcGIS, and others commonly used in public education presentations, handouts, and social media campaigns. Ability to troubleshoot and work with others toward a solution. Ability to maintain overlapping project schedules while meeting deadlines established by permit, policy, and evolving Department needs. The employee must require minimal supervision and be completely diligent to plan workload and tasks to fit all scheduling as required. Demonstrates a desire, ability, and work ethic to grow and improve Departmental programs. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree with major course work in physical or natural science, environmental planning, or a related field is required; or an equivalent combination of appropriate education, training, and experience necessary to perform the principal accountabilities of the position may substitute for the education requirement. At least one year of experience in education or instruction is strongly preferred. A Level IB Certification through the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission or the ability to obtain it within six (6) months of hire is required. A valid driver’s license is required. A combination of education and/or work experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
