Holmer Maschinenbau is a manufacturer of Sugar Beet harvesting equipment based in Germany. Holmer Americas is a subsidiary of Holmer Maschinenbau and supports farmers in the U.S. and Canada that produce Sugar Beets. Holmer Americas primarily does sales and service of Sugar Beet harvesting equipment. We also do some light manufacturing.
*Job Summary*
Holmer Americas is looking for technicians/mechanics that have an interest in agriculture. Holmer refurbishes and repairs our (the Holmer Brand) sugar beet harvesters, loader/cleaners, and carts as well as occasionally other branded equipment taken on trade.

Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and Repair: Troubleshoot issues with agricultural equipment, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, and other mechanical components.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machinery, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of moving parts.
Parts Replacement: Replace worn or defective parts and components, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used and time spent on each task.
Customer Service: Interact with customers or farm operators to explain repairs and provide advice on equipment care and maintenance.
On-Site Repairs: Travel to different farm locations to perform on-site repairs and maintenance as required. Some travel out of Michigan may be necessary to support customers in other beet growing areas.
Lead Technician: Support the Management Team in Michigan with daily activities including but not limited to: daily scheduling in shop, customer interactions, ensuring work is completed, etc.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in mechanics is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in the agricultural sector.
Skills:
Proficient in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Basic welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
Proficiency with tools and equipment used in mechanical repair.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy equipment and parts.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments.
A valid driver's license is required
Other Requirements:
The busy season for sugar beets is the fall during the harvest, typically ramping up in August and finishing before Thanksgiving. During this time, longer days and weekends will be required to support our customers when they need us most. Must be able to work this schedule.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
