On our team, you'll have the support to excel at work and the resources to build a career you can be proud of.2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pmAs a Dockmaster you will serve as the primary point of contact for all dock-related activities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of trailers in and out of the facility. This is a hands-on leadership role that partners closely with operations, transportation, safety, and customer teams to execute daily dock activities while modeling accountability, operational discipline, and customer service excellence.Pay, benefits, and more.We are eager to attract the best, so we offer competitive compensation and a generous benefits package, including full health insurance (medical, dental and vision), 401(k), life insurance, disability and more.What you'll do on a typical day:Champion operation safety as well as support of hand tools and dock-related equipment, as requiredServe as the primary point of contact for all loading and unloading dock activities, coordinating trailer movements to support daily operational prioritiesManage and sequence trailer docking, release, and yard flow, applying knowledge of trailer anatomy and fleet safety standardsMonitor dock conditions and exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified; follow proper escalation proceduresPartner daily with site operations, transportation, yard services, and customer-facing teams to prioritize multiple tasks and competing demandsCommunicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a strong customer service mindsetEnsure dock activities align with process guidelines, safety standards, and site SWIs, seeing tasks through to completionSupport dock and yard organization in alignment with 7S workplace standardsConduct regular visual inspections and maintain high observational awareness to identify risks, inefficiencies, or potential delaysUse Microsoft Office 365 and Google Suite tools to track activity, communicate updates, and document issuesProvide coverage and operational support to site leadership and Lead peers as neededWhat you need to succeed at GXO:At a minimum, you'll need:Experience working in a warehouse, distribution, dock, yard, or transportation-related environmentDemonstrated ability to coordinate dock or yard activities in a fast-paced operationWorking knowledge of trailer docking, release procedures, and trailer anatomyAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions and across varied terrainProven ability to follow defined processes, safety standards, and escalation protocolsStrong communication skills with the ability to engage in daily customer-facing and cross-functional interactionsComfort using Microsoft Office 365 and/or Google Suite applicationsIt'd be great if you also have:Previous experience in a lead, coordinator, or informal leadership roleExposure to safety programs, yard management systems (YMS), or WMS environmentsExperience supporting or enforcing safe work practices and stop-work authorityMechanical aptitude or familiarity with basic hand tools and dock equipmentThis job requires the ability to:Work extended time outdoors in varying weather conditionsStand, walk, and traverse uneven surfaces throughout the shiftMaintain situational awareness in a high-traffic dock and yard environmentSupport a flexible schedule as business needs requireCarry objects 3-5 feet weighing up to 50lbs, routinelyStand for prolonged periods of time >4 hoursWalk continuously more than 10,000 steps (4-5) miles per dayBend, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull objects of various shapes and sizes in the team lift.Tolerate hot and cold work environmentsAbility to use powered and/or manual lifting equipment to assist with the team safety moving inventory in accordance with established protocols and safety guidelinesWe engineer faster, smarter, leaner supply chains.GXO is a leading provider of cutting-edge supply chain solutions to the most successful companies in the world.
