Logistics CoordinatorThe Logistics Coordinator position is responsible for increasing the effectiveness of company's transportation network by managing external transportation providers, lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and maintaining customer satisfaction, as well as developing internal processes and programs to improve logistics costs.Plan, organize, and direct team activities to meet or exceed established goals in a cost-effective mannerTrain, or facilitate the training of, new associates in all aspects of their job functionManage and oversee departmental processes, procedures, and policy decisionsLead, communicate, and coach to cultivate a motivated associate environment of trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business ownershipSupport new and current team member activities hiring, performance, management, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary processesManage vacation approvals, timecard approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and trainingStay up to date on overall activities of the team, identify problem areas and take corrective actionsCoordinate parts delivery activities with Material Distribution for presentation to the production lineSupport inventory reduction initiativesAssist in reducing supplier past due part shipments, including internal part shortagesMonitor service contract compliance for all company locations; and establish and enforce policies and procedures for import/export functions according to US RegulationsDevelop operational metrics and goalsMaintain and utilize a logistics scorecard that is monitored and reported out on regularly to include carrier performance and costsContinuously manage and review outsourced Third Party Logistics (3PL) providersMonitor and report on general trends in the transportation industry; make and implement recommendations on how to react to changesImprove gross margin by ensuring the efficient movement of finished goods, raw materials, and equipment for all shipmentsLead projects that improve logistics activitiesFacilitate communication and freight coordination between internal departments and key external transportation groups for all of companyAct as the primary contact for day-to-day transportation support including all domestic and international freight movements, as well as import/export compliance mattersCoordinate inbound shipment processes to ensure the highest levels of performance in the areas of cost reduction, on-time delivery, availability, lead-times, and customer satisfactionEstablish standard reporting and monitor shipments to ensure on-time pick-up and deliveryProactively follow up on freight issues, as required, and communicate issues to all partiesCoordinate with the third-party logistics (3PL) provider to receive, resolve, and report on routine customer/supplier inquiries concerning freight disputes, shipment returns, and replacementsReview freight invoices for accuracy and process them in a timely mannerMonitor shipment transactions for accuracy and hold 3PL provider accountable for inbound and outbound LTL (less than truckload), TL (truckload) and small parcel (UPS or FedEx) shipmentsAnalyze expenditures and other financial information with a focus on continuous improvement to develop plans, policies, or budgets for increasing profits and/or improving servicesSuggest operations policies and standards such as determining safety procedures for the handling of production parts including any hazardous/dangerous goodsDirect investigations to verify and resolve carrier/shipment related complaintsConduct investigations in cooperation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety proceduresSupport parts packaging related requests, as neededAssist in the coordination of internal cycle count and physical inventory activities, as neededWork to reduce Raw Material and WIP inventory while considering economic order quantitiesSupport Material Planning department to minimize supplier past due shipments and help monitor internal parts shortage issues to facilitate improvementsPrepare all required reports and correspondenceDevelop, implement, and monitor department budget and manages expenses within approved budget constraintsCommunicate with cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issuesSolve complex problems with minimal assistanceOther tasks as assignedStrong:Communication skills, verbal and writtenLeadership attributes and interpersonal skillsNegotiation skillsOrganizational, problem-solving, and analytical skillsWilling to travel, as neededWhy Aebi Schmidt Group?Our people are our greatest asset, and your success is our success!
