Job Description Description:Position SummaryThe Engineering Intern provides entry-level support to the Engineering team by assisting with design documentation, drafting support, data organization, and engineering administrative tasks. This role is intended to provide hands-on exposure to engineering, drafting, and document management processes within an aerospace manufacturing environment under close supervision.The intern will gain practical experience supporting engineers, maintaining engineering records, preparing drawings and documents, and collaborating with cross-functional teams while learning company systems, standards, and regulatory requirements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther duties may be assigned based on learning objectives and business needs.Engineering & Design SupportAssist engineers with preparing routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams under supervisionSupport updates to drawings, redlines, and engineering documentationAssist with reviewing drawings and documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standardsLearn to interpret basic engineering schematics, drawings, and specificationsDocument & Data ManagementAssist with filing, organizing, and maintaining engineering documents (electronic and paper)Support document control activities, including copying, scanning, indexing, and revision trackingHelp maintain engineering databases and records in accordance with company proceduresRetrieve information from files and systems for authorized usersAdministrative & Cross-Functional SupportProvide general engineering administrative support to Engineering, Purchasing, Planning, and other departments as neededAssist with formatting, proofreading, and preparing reports, presentations, and documentationRead, respond to, and manage email communications as directedSafety, Quality & Professional ExpectationsFollow all environmental, health, and safety policies and proceduresReport safety concerns or issues to supervision immediatelyMaintain a clean, organized, and professional work areaWear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in shop areasManage assigned tasks and time effectively with guidanceEvaluate own work for accuracy and compliance with instructionsRequirements:QualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredCurrent enrollment in or recent completion of a technical program, associate degree, or bachelor's program in Engineering, Drafting, Design, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferredPrior internship, coursework, or hands-on technical experience is a plus but not requiredJob Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret basic written instructions, procedures, and technical documentsBasic understanding of engineering or drafting concepts (through coursework or training)Strong attention to detail and organization skillsAbility to follow instructions and ask questions when clarification is neededEffective verbal and written communication skillsBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelWillingness to learn engineering software and document management systemsProfessional conduct, reliability, and a strong desire to learnPhysical DemandsAbility to sit for extended periods (approximately 65–75% of the time)Occasional walking, standing, bending, kneeling, or reaching to access files or equipmentFrequent use of hands and fingers for computer and office equipmentAbility to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionallyVision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
