Platform Data Engineer
Description: The Platform Data Engineer will join the Digital Engineering organization and provide technical support to Digital applications and services that improve the member/user experience, support Clients strategic initiatives.To support and participate in Digital’s Agile development and engineering processes throughout the product lifecycle (product initiation, planning, implementation, reviews, and releases) to design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database solutions that enable efficient data management, ensure high availability, and support the organization's business and operational needs.Focus will be on optimizing databases’ performance, capacity, and reliability while aligning with industry standards and best practices to safeguard data integrity and accessibility. Work under minimal supervision and use complete understanding of business needs and objectives to support projects that have impact on the achievement of operational goals.Responsibilities:Design, implement, and manage advanced cloud database architectures, ensuring scalability and reliabilityWork with Agile development teams leveraging Liquibase to manage database scheme changesMonitor and optimize database performance and capacity planningDevelop and manage backup policies, data retention policies and disaster recovery plansConduct in-depth performance analyses and execute tuning initiativesDevelop advanced automation workflows to improve database operations efficiencyImplement and enforce robust encryption and security protocols; drive initiatives for regulatory complianceDiagnose and solve advanced database issues with minimal supervision, ensuring data integrity and availabilityCollaborate with Digital Agile teams, Digital Engineering, and ETS Data partners to align database strategies with business goalsImprove operational quality by compiling and analyzing data, and preparing recommendations based on that analysis for use in decision-makingPrepare technical, process, and operations-related documentationTrack work in accordance with team processes and ensure task and backlog items are properly documentedPrepare and deliver clear, concise, and effective communications to teams and managementProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team membersQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience5-7 years of experience in database engineering and administration.Complete knowledge and understanding of business area/specializationAdvanced skill with hands-on experience in Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL, and enterprise database platformsAdvanced skill designing, testing and deploying backup and disaster recovery solutionsAdvanced skill in database performance tuning and capacity planning with monitoringExperience in developing advanced automation scripts and workflowsAdvanced knowledge of regulatory frameworksAdvance knowledge in secure data practices and data governanceAdvanced skill to design scalable database solutions and address advanced performance bottlenecksExpert analytical/quantitative, problem-solving, and deductive reasoning skills, with demonstrated experience performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex technical issuesExcellent organizational, planning and time management skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment to manage concurrent priorities and meet deadlinesAdvanced verbal and written communication skills and ability to present findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and conciselyExperience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tactDesired - Microsoft® Certified: Azure Database Administrator AssociateDesired - Hands-on experience using Liquibase to manage schema changesDesired - Experience supporting platform engineering, infrastructure, cloud, digital, or software engineering organizations.Desired - Familiarity with application modernization and decommissioning programs.Desired - Experience working with risk, audit, cybersecurity, compliance, and regulatory initiatives.Desired - Experience with the banking/financial services industry
