Drafter/Designer

SUMMARY Aid in the development/documentation of new products, redesigns of existing products and evaluation testing as needed. Includes new product design, rationalization of existing product lines, redesign for cost reductions or product standardization and product line expansions. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare/maintain 3D models, 2D design drawings, schematics/specifications from Design Engineer sketches, plans and written/verbal instructions, for manufacturing/sourcing/assembly purposes. Work closely with Design Engineers to resolve design details/discrepancies on new projects as well as sustaining activities. Prepare bill of material and project specific specifications. Adhere to departmental procedure and standards to achieve highest quality of throughput. Participate on special assignments as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Proficient with computers, SOLIDWORKS (or AutoCAD) and MS Office software. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors or employees of organization. Established understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) as well as ASME drafting standards. Basic understanding of machining/assembly practices. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Associates degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design, or equivalent. Must have good work ethic, self-confidence, and the ability to collaborate within a team environment. Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate at all levels. Highly organized, detail orientated and proactive. Demonstrated project management skills a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. Hands-on attitude a must. Ability to work with diverse global teams from Engineering to Sourcing. Ability to handle multiple tasks at once. Hydraulic/fluid power knowledge/experience a plus, but not required.
