HVAC Controls Design Engineer

DIRECT HIRE: A terrific opportunity for an experienced Controls Design Engineer to join a dynamic team in the Lawrenceville, GA. area. The Controls Design Engineer is responsible for the design, documentation, and technical support of building automation and control systems. This role translates project requirements, sequences of operation, and standards into clear, buildable control drawings and design packages that support installation, programming, commissioning, and long‐term operation.Working Location: Lawrenceville, GA. ( Remote option )Pay Range: $85K - $110K (depending on experience)Base hours/Schedule: M - F, 7am - 3:30pm (40 - 50hrs per week)Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Retirement, Short/Long term disability, performance bonus and more Key Responsibilities:Design & EngineeringDevelop control system designs for HVAC and building automation systems (BAS)Create control drawings using Visio (schematics, network diagrams, panel layouts, point‐to‐point wiring)Interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings to develop coordinated control designsDevelop and review Sequences of Operation for accuracy, clarity, and constructabilitySelect control devices (controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, relays, power supplies)Documentation & SubmittalsProduce complete control submittal packages, including:Control diagramsPoints listsNetwork architecturePanel layoutsDevice schedulesEnsure drawings are correctly scaled, labeled, and compliant with company standardsRevise drawings based on internal QA, customer comments, and field conditionsMaintain version control and revision trackingTechnical CoordinationCoordinate with project managers, field technicians, programmers, and commissioning staffSupport RFI responses related to control design and scopeClarify design intent for installation and programming teamsParticipate in design reviews and kickoff meetingsStandards & QualityApply company standards, industry best practices, and applicable codesEnsure fail‐safe operation, interlocks, and proper control logic intentSupport continuous improvement of templates, standards, and design workflowsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent industry experience1+ years of experience in HVAC controls or building automationStrong proficiency with Microsoft Visio for technical drawingsSolid understanding of:HVAC systems and control strategiesSensors, actuators, and control devicesBACnet/IP and MS/TP networksAbility to read and interpret construction documentsStrong attention to detail and documentation accuracyPreferred QualificationsExperience with Niagara, Distech, Johnson Controls, Siemens, or similar platformsFamiliarity with commissioning processes and functional testingExperience supporting control submittals and construction phasesKnowledge of low‐voltage wiring practices and panel designWorking ConditionsOffice‐based with periodic jobsite or field coordinationMay support multiple projects concurrentlyOccasional travel as required for project supportOnce you apply, please text "CDE" to 904-712-6140 for a faster reply.INDHPowered by JazzHR
