The Executive Director works closely with the Board President, Executive Committee, and Treasurer to support growth, ensure operational excellence, and elevate the visibility and impact. This role offers a unique opportunity to steward a respected and growing investment community, deepen our impact, and help shape the future of inclusive angel investing. This is a part-time contract position (20–25 hours/week) with flexible scheduling and remote work within the Washington, DC metro area, with the potential to become a full time position. Fundraising and Revenue Development Build and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including sponsorships, individual donations, and institutional giving Identify, cultivate, and steward donor and sponsor relationships Identify opportunities to strengthen long-term sustainability and organizational capacity through new revenue streams Pursue, write, and manage grant applications for both the 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3). Track fundraising progress and provide regular reporting to the Board. Strategic Leadership & Operations Collaborate with the Board to translate strategic goals into operational plans with clear budgets and measurable outcomes. Partner closely with the Board to set priorities, track progress, and ensure strong financial and governance across both entities Manage existing staff and develop future staffing plans aligned to organizational needs. Drive improvements in systems, processes, and organizational infrastructure to further mature operations Programs, Outreach + Events Serve as a visible leader and public representative, advancing the mission, vision, and long-term strategy Support and/or deliver speaking engagements and community presentations. Oversee event execution—logistics, planning, staffing, and follow-up. Develop partnerships with ecosystem stakeholders to increase visibility and impact. Member and Board Engagement Cultivate a strong, engaged membership community and Board by supporting recruitment, participation, communications, and programming Partner with the Board President to set agendas for executive committee and board meetings, ensuring alignment with priorities Attend committee meetings, as needed; coordinate with committee chairs and ensure staff coverage at appropriate committee meetings Qualifications The ideal candidate is a collaborative, mission-aligned leader with strong strategic instincts, the ability to work effectively with a volunteer-driven organization, and a passion for advancing equity through entrepreneurship and access to capital. The successful candidate will bring: 7+ years of experience in executive leadership, nonprofit leadership, entrepreneurial, startup, or investment ecosystem leadership. Strategic thinking paired with hands-on execution skills appropriate for a small, growing organization Demonstrated success in fundraising, sponsorship development, and grant management. Strong operational and financial management experience. Proven ability to work effectively with a volunteer-driven organization, engaged board, and diverse stakeholder groups and external partners. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to represent the organization externally, including at public events and panels.
