Experienced Construction Surveyor

Primary PurposeWe are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil / Marine Infrastructure Surveyor to support complex, large-scale marine and heavy civil construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring accurate layout, alignment, elevations, and quantities for marine projects.The Surveyor will work closely with project management, field supervision, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain precise survey control and deliver safe, high-quality infrastructure projects.Essential Job Functions Perform construction surveying and layout for heavy civil and marine projects, including horizontal and vertical controlEstablish and maintain survey control networks, benchmarks, and reference pointsExecute topographic surveys as requiredConduct layout for:Bridge foundations, piers, and abutmentsPile driving and marine structuresCofferdams and temporary worksVerify elevations, grades, alignments, and tolerances per contract documentsPrepare and review as-built surveys, quantity calculations, and progress measurementsUtilize survey equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS, and robotic instrumentsInterpret plans, specifications, and engineering drawingsCoordinate survey activities with project teams to support construction sequencing and schedulesEnsure compliance with contract requirements, DOT standards, and quality control proceduresMaintain accurate survey records, field notes, and digital filesSupport claims, change orders, and progress reporting through accurate survey dataRequired Qualifications 5+ years of experience in heavy civil and/or marine construction surveyingProven experience on marine, bridge, or other heavy civil infrastructure projectsStrong working knowledge of:Construction layout and controlGPS/GNSS and robotic total station systemsAbility to read and interpret civil, structural, and marine drawingsExperience working in active construction environments, including over waterStrong math, geometry, and spatial reasoning skillsProficiency with common survey software (e.g., Carlson, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar)Valid driver’s licenseAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screenPreferred QualificationsMarine construction or heavy bridge project experienceExperience with pile layout, dredging quantities, and cofferdam surveysDOT project experienceWork Environment and Physical RequirementsOutdoor, field-based role in marine and heavy construction settingsWork may include exposure to water, varying weather conditions, and rugged terrainRequires physical ability to traverse construction sites and marine platformsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop and/or sitMust be able to tolerate heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levelsMust be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassistedAdditional DutiesThis Job Description does not cover all of the required duties, activities, functions and responsibilities of the position, any of which may change at any time according to the sole and absolute discretion of Massman Construction Co., with or without notice.Massman Construction Co. is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.It is the employment policy and practice of Massman Construction Co. to recruit and to hire qualified employees without discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or other classes protected by applicable law, and to not discriminate with respect to compensation and opportunities for advancement, including upgrading, promotion, and transfers.E-Verify StatementMassman Construction Co. participates in E-Verify.
