Senior Optical Test EngineerAbout Robo Optic: We're a Taiwanese-founded robotics and optical systems company building a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hutto, Texas. As we scale high-speed optical module production, we're looking for a Senior Optical Test Engineer to own and lead our full test function from the ground up.The Role You'll build and lead the optical module test operation — covering AOI, opto-electronic functional testing, high-speed signal testing, and final outgoing inspection. This isn't just a technical role: you'll own the operator training framework, ensuring every team member is fully certified before working a station independently.What You'll Own Daily test line operations: Test Pass Rate, FPY, and capacity targetsSupervision and coaching across AOI, SPI, optical power, Eye Diagram, and BER testing stationsOperator certification program: instrument operation → acceptance standards → anomaly escalation → autonomous quality judgmentTest equipment calibration and full measurement traceabilityFailure data analysis: identify systemic defects and drive upstream process improvementsAlignment of test specs with 400G / 800G / 1.6T customer requirements (IEEE / MSA)SOPs, acceptance criteria documentation, and non-conforming material proceduresRequired Test System Knowledge: Optical Power Meter (OPM) · Eye Diagram Analyzer / BERT · AOI Systems (Koh Young / Saki / Omron) · Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) · High-Speed Oscilloscope · SPI Inspection · X-Ray Inspection · Automatic Test Equipment (ATE)What We're Looking For 5+ years in opto-electronic / optical communications testing, including 2+ years in a supervisory roleHands-on experience with 400G / 800G / 1.6T optical module test specs (QSFP-DD / OSFP / CPO)Proficiency in Eye Diagram, BER, extinction ratio, optical power budget, and related parametersFamiliarity with IEEE 802.3 / MSA standards; CMIS spec knowledge is a plusProven ability to design operator certification courses and conduct practical assessmentsStrong data analysis skills: FPY, Cpk, yield trend reportingAbility to translate complex acceptance criteria into clear, operator-executable SOPsCross-functional communicator — comfortable working with Process, Quality, and Design teamsWhat We OfferLeadership role with real ownership of a critical functionOpportunity to build a test organization from the ground upCompetitive compensation and full benefitsCollaborative, high-tech environment at the intersection of robotics and optical systemsCareer growth as the Hutto facility expands
