Secretary, Principal, Middle School JobID: 1564Position Type:Secretarial/Clerical/SecretaryDate Posted:5/26/2026Location:Burnet Middle SchoolAdditional Information: Show/HidePrimary Purpose:Ensure efficient operation of the middle school administrative office and provide clerical services for the school's administrative staff.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of general office proceduresKnowledge of basic accounting principlesProficient keyboarding and file maintenance skillsAbility to use software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and do word processingAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to perform a variety of tasks often changing assignment on short notice with some directionAbility to prioritize workflow to address the multiple needs of the supervisor or the departmentAbility to multi-task numerous complex administrative activitiesEffective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Two (2) years secretarial experienceMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Prepare written correspondence, forms, schedules, or reports using a personal computer.Prepare instructional materials, meeting agendas, class lists, and campus communication as requested.Maintain a daily teacher attendance log and records for substitute teachers.Monitor and process personnel time records including leave requests and reports for Principal approval.Maintain school calendar of events via website and campus bulletin boards.Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain a calendar for the principal.Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed.Receive incoming calls, take reliable and accurate messages, and route to appropriate staff.Greet and direct campus visitors according to district policy.Maintain physical and computerized files including mailing lists, student records, visitor logs, and office communication.Update handbooks, policy manuals, and other documents as assigned.Act as backup for other office personnel.Perform routine bookkeeping tasks and maintain campus budget records.Prepare and process purchase orders.Receive, store, and issue supplies and equipment.Prepare and make cash deposits for activity account(s).
