To make this happen, we are adding to our strong team of talented professionals to deepen and broaden our impact.Job SummaryThe Camp Health Director is responsible for overseeing the health and safety of campers and staff at BCNY's residential summer camp. This role involves providing medical care, administering medications, managing health records, and leading emergency response efforts. The Camp Health Director will report to the Camp Director and work closely with the camp leadership team and the Camp Wellness Manager to ensure the well-being of all campers.ResponsibilitiesMedical Care & Emergency Response:Provide health care for campers and staff, including assessments, first aid, and injury/illness management.Respond to and treat injuries such as sprains, fractures, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory conditions, and concussions.Be on-call and prepared to lead emergency response and crisis management situations.Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document treatment.Communicate with parents/guardians regarding significant medical concerns or treatments.Health Center & Documentation:Manage the camp Health Center, ensuring a safe and organized medical environment.Maintain accurate medical records, including health histories, treatment logs, and accident reports both physically and digitally.Oversee and record the administration of all medications and treatments in accordance with standing orders.Ensure compliance with New York State and Orange County Department of Health regulations and standards.Prepare and stock first aid kits for camp facilities, staff, and off-site trips.Staff & Camper Health Oversight:Conduct pre-camp medical screenings for campers.Verify and maintain health history forms and emergency contact authorizations.Train staff on camp health procedures, including infection control, first aid response, and risk management.Educate camp staff and campers on proper hygiene, sun safety, hydration, and general wellness practices.Additional Duties:Assist with the opening and closing of the health center, including inventorying and packing medical supplies.Provide health-related advisement to the Camp Director and leadership team.Support mental health and wellness initiatives in collaboration with camp staff.QualificationsLicensed Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician, Physician Assistant (PA), or EMT in New York State.Current CPR and First Aid certification (required).Experience in pediatric or adolescent healthcare (preferred).Valid driver's license (preferred).Ability to work in a residential camp setting and handle emergency medical situations.Strong communication skills and the desire to work with children and young adults.Knowledge of community health resources and best practices in camp health care.A comfort level of computer literacy required, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, and Campminder or similar database software to keep patient recordsRequirementsAbility to pass a background check, physical exam and be up to date on all required immunizations.Summer Camp employees are not required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, however, BCNY strongly encourages all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and obtain a booster shot.What We OfferPTO: Sick time onlyHousing available on siteDaily meals during camp sessionsThe Boys' Club of New York is an equal opportunity employer
