Radio/Field Technician
The Field Technician is responsible for performing tasks associated with installation and/or maintenance of digital communication equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to new customer installations, service calls, de-installations, and network maintenance as directed by supervisors.The Field Technician will travel to customer sites to install, rearrange, and remove equipment and associated wiring; verify work-order information; and verify receipt of all necessary equipment and information. This position must interpret service orders, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics; locate and repair equipment problems associated with trouble reports; load and test software; and test, adjust, and repair equipment, as necessary. This position requires regular use of circuit and microwave test equipment.Essential Duties and Key ResponsibilitiesPull, crimp, and power CAT5/CAT6, for indoor and outdoor applications, using standard cable practicesMount/install racks, batteries, multiple types of mounts and related equipment following standard practices pack and unpack materialsInstall antennas, radios, cameras, and other customer premises equipmentProgram customer premises equipment using computer and tools providedTroubleshoot and repair antenna systems and circuit problems both wireless and network relatedInstall transmission and switch equipmentMaintain, troubleshoot, and install dehydrator systemsTerminate signal cable on DSX by performing wire wrapping and fiber optic cables to patch panelLabel all signal cable, fiber optic, and power cableHave familiarity with multiple manufacturer's equipment to include but not limited to Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Cisco, Motorola, Axis, Bridgewave, Cambium, AviatPerform walk downs, including sketches and/or picture taking and measurementsMust be able to pass manufacturers certification coursesResponsible for maintenance and use of company supplied hand and power toolsOperate circuit and microwave test equipment and record resultsInventory tracking on vehicle level and installationsResponsible for safety and quality assuranceDaily driving and maintenance of company vehicle including bucket trucksMaintain work area clean of debrisPrepare and submit all reports (i.e. timecards, expense reports, etc.) in an accurate and timely mannerUpdate supervisors and project managers in an informative manner dailyMaintain a professional, courteous, and responsible attitude to customers and fellow employeesCarry out routine and special assignments as directed by supervisor or project managerMinimum Experience and Educational RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED certificate1+ year of experience installing digital wireless equipment and/or related technical fieldsExperienced with installing equipment racks, and groundingMicrowave and wireless radio frequency experience preferredProficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Strong organizational and planning skills, and capable of managing several complex tasks at a timeExcellent interpersonal and communication skills both written & verbalMust be a team player and accept instructionAbility and willingness to travel frequently – up to 40%Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and altitudesAbility to lift 50 pounds regularlyAbility to work on rooftops two stories and aboveSeniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionInformation TechnologyStaffing and Recruiting and TelecommunicationsJ-18808-Ljbffr
