The ideal candidate brings strong technical judgment, exceptional production experience, and the ability to lead projects through all phases of design and construction.Our work includes detail-intensive custom residences, technically challenging hillside homes, ground-up estates, and executive architecture collaborations with partners including John Pawson, Foster + Partners, and Ferguson & Shamamian.About KOVACFor over three decades, KOVAC has designed residential architecture rooted in careful listening, technical rigor, and a belief that buildings should feel deeply connected to landscape, materiality, and daily life. We value thoughtful collaboration, clear communication, and a disciplined approach to project execution.ResponsibilitiesTranslate conceptual design into thoughtful, buildable architectural solutionsLead the technical development and execution of high-end residential projectsLead the production and coordination of detailed construction documentation across all project phasesGuide projects through permitting and construction administrationMaintain project schedules, consultant coordination, and documentation quality throughout all phasesCoordinate closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and fabricators while maintaining design intent and documentation qualityResolve complex technical and detailing challenges with clarity and precisionMentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio cultureQualificationsProfessional degree in Architecture5+ years of experience, primarily in high-end custom residentialStrong expertise in construction methods, detailing, and building systemsProven experience leading projects from design development through construction administrationExcellent organizational, communication, and project management skillsProficiency with industry-standard modeling and graphic software required (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc); Fluency in Revit preferredKnowledge of California building codes and permitting processesWhy KOVACWork on architecturally ambitious projects with a high level of technical and material sophisticationCollaborate with globally recognized architects, consultants, and craftspeopleJoin an internationally diverse team of ~25 architects and designers who value curiosity, rigor, and thoughtful problem-solvingHybrid remote/in-office schedule with Mondays and Fridays remoteCompetitive compensation and benefits package including 401(k) contributions, generous PTO, and winter holiday office closureTo ApplyPlease send your résumé and work samples (PDF) to hr@kovac.studio.
