Structural Project Engineer
SummaryThe Project Engineer owns the technical delivery of assigned projects, serving as the primary technical resource accountable for the accuracy, quality, and completeness of all engineering work products. Operating with a high degree of independence, this role coordinates engineering execution, manages multiple projects simultaneously, engages directly with customers and stakeholders, and ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company practices. The Project Engineer mentors junior engineers and plays a key role in driving process improvements, representing a critical step in the progression toward senior technical and leadership positions.Primary DutiesTechnical Execution & AccountabilityOwn the technical execution, accuracy, and quality of engineering deliverables for assigned projectsPerform and review engineering calculations, specifications, and construction documentsEnsure compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and internal quality requirementsServe as a technical problem-solver for complex or non-standard design challengesSign and seal work as requiredProject Ownership & DeliveryManage engineering workflow and technical deliverables across assigned projectsDrive schedule planning and forecasting in coordination with Project Managers and operationsTrack project progress, deliverables, and milestones to support on-time deliveryCoordinate engineering scope and priorities with internal stakeholdersCustomer & External InteractionParticipate in and lead technical discussions with customers, partners, and consultantsManage external correspondence with customers, trade partners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)Support customer meetings by providing technical expertise and solutionsQuality, Risk & ComplianceEnforce quality control standards and conduct technical reviewsIdentify, assess, and mitigate technical risks and constructability issuesSupport delegated contract review and technical risk evaluationMentorship & Process ImprovementMentor and guide Staff and Associate EngineersSupport knowledge transfer, documentation, and training effortsImplement process improvements, tools, and workflow enhancementsGeneral ResponsibilitiesUse available resources efficiently and effectivelyPerform other duties as assigned
