If working on mission critical Internet Infrastructure with our globally diverse team sounds like a great fit for you, then you should submit your application today!Responsibilities:Design, build and maintain tools to better support deployment, testing and operational functions for network infrastructureResearch and integrate industry best practices in network orchestration initiatives, create operational standards around monitoring and network configuration managementActively help identify gaps that are pain points for up/down stream organizations and take a leadership role in executing a solutionHelp improve the Verisign monitoring infrastructure by expanding on current data visualization initiatives and leverage protocols such as NetFlow and Streaming TelemetryHelp design and implement auto remediation functions to monitor, manage and recover from undesirable network eventsTake a "monitor/measure all the things" approach to help provide more insight into critical infrastructure and applicationsDesign and implement systems for RPKI validation, ROA management and BGP origin validation at scaleDevelop and maintain route policy systems and provisioning pipelines across a diverse, multi-vendor networkInstrument and monitor routing infrastructure, building observability tooling for real-time visibilityDocument systems, write runbooks, and participate in routing security incidentsCompany culture:Work on the high-scale systems that provide key Internet servicesStrong Verisign technical community with constant opportunities to learn via tech talks and other internal eventsTraining and education opportunities such as Verisign University and tuition reimbursement for work-related degreesClearly defined corporate mission and valuesRequirements:Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience8+ years' related engineering experienceExperience working with or creating APIs and understanding of data transport and serialization formats such as REST, JSON, XML, YAMLExperience with network devices (routers, switches, load balancers) and a good understanding of network routing protocolsExperience with IRR and RPSL based filteringFamiliarity with ASPA, RPKI ROV, PKI infrastructure and relevant protocolsUnderstanding of infrastructure protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRRP, DHCP, TCP, UDP), IP addressing (IPv6), and application protocols (DNS, SMTP, HTTP, etc.)Proficiency in a software development languageDebug issues within custom code efficientlyQuickly adapt to and learn new technologies, both development frameworks and technology advancementsDeveloping scalable and optimized software systemsHave a high aptitude and technology-agnostic approach to engineeringPreferred Skills:Solid understanding of the Linux operating systems and Docker containersStrong interpersonal and communications skills; exceptional documentation skills, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to internal customers or client audiences, peers, and working closely with leadershipExperience with automation platforms (Ansible, Salt, etc.)Proven contributions to the opensource community. Please provide your github/bitbuket repository of projectsExperience with time-series database (Influxdb, Open TSDB, Prometheus, etc.)This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.The pay range is $135,800 - $183,800.The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.Verisign is an equal opportunity employer.
