Eaton’s Power Components Division is currently seeking a Vacuum Interruption (VI) Engineer. This is an on-site position based at our Horseheads, NY facility. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR.The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.What You’ll DoWe are seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to serve as a Vacuum Interruption (VI) Engineer. In this role, you will support our vacuum interrupter business and its customers through research, development, and application expertise. You will drive innovation, support manufacturing and product development, and collaborate globally to advance our vacuum interruption technology and product portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop subject matter expertise in vacuum interruption technology through ongoing R&D work and practical applicationLead the development of new vacuum interrupter products by leveraging Voice of Customer (VOC) insightsDrive innovation and contribute to the creation of value added intellectual propertyMaintain awareness of emerging technologies in the field and connect with industry groups to support technical visibility of the Vacuum Interrupter Product LineLearn and apply relevant IEEE and IEC standards and participate in IEEE Switchgear Committee activities.Develop a deep understanding of the Vacuum Interrupter manufacturing process to:Introduce new products which are manufacturableContribute to plant cost out initiativesSupport manufacturing troubleshooting and new process developmentDevelop an understanding of customer products and applications to provide timely support including quality issue resolutions and failure analysesUnderstand key VI components and characteristics to support new materials or alternate source development for Supply Chain teamsPrepare and deliver technical reports and presentations and participate in product technical strategy.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and globally distributed teams across the Power Components Division to achieve project goalsPartner with teams from Eaton Research Labs, the Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources to support technology and product innovationQualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics from an accredited institutionMinimum of 5 years of engineering experience in specifying, designing, developing and/or testing electromechanical products for industrial applicationsEaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited institutionExperience in development, manufacturing or testing of industrial switching devices or medium-voltage electrical equipmentExperience with collaborating in global teamsSkillsOperating principles of electromechanical devices, technology and applications, related materials, and manufacturing processesAwareness of codes and standards for certification of electrical equipmentUnderstanding of electrical power systemsKnowledge of engineering tools, processes and problem solving methodsEffective leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
