Search Number PJ # 7392 Title Assistant Professor, Education Category Academic Department Education Department About The Position:Expected to begin in Fall 2026, this 10-month, tenure-track position is housed in the Education Department and emphasizes the integration of literacy education with effective strategies for teaching English Language Learners (ELLs). The successful candidate will engage in and model reflective teaching and learning as an active member of collaborative teaching teams, working closely with university colleagues as well as professionals in regional partner schools. Responsibilities include preparing preservice teachers to implement evidence-based strategies for supporting English Language Learners; teaching courses focused on literacy development across childhood and adolescence; contributing to literacy and ELL curriculum development; and delivering instruction in pedagogical methods. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, a record of publication and scholarly activity, and meaningful service contributions, all of which are required for tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will teach courses in both face-to-face and online modalities.The Education Department has a long-standing commitment to excellence in teaching and teacher preparation. ABDs will be considered for appointment at a lesser (qualified) rank and salary, upon proof that the applicant's dissertation defense will be scheduled within the first year of the appointment. A successful ABD applicant will receive promotion to the rank of Assistant Professor and a salary increment at the start of the semester following the award of the terminal degree.
