Senior Software Engineer
We are working with a proprietary trading firm that has been operating for over fifteen years and trades continuously across equities, futures, and options markets in the US, Europe, and Asia. The firm is entirely self-funded, trades its own capital, and has no external investors. Engineering sits at the core of how it operates. The team is looking for a C++ Software Engineer to work on execution infrastructure and the systems that interact directly with exchanges and liquidity venues. This includes building a high-performance front end used by the co-founders who still trade day-to-day, developing backend systems for streaming market data feeds, and working closely with both the trading engine and front-end teams. There is also an ongoing migration of trading engine components from C++ to Rust that you would contribute to over time. You would be helping to shape how that capability develops, which means a high degree of ownership and limited hand-holding. The people you work most closely with will be other engineers, traders, and on occasion the founders themselves. What you will be doingDeveloping backend systems for streaming market data feedsWorking closely with the trading engine and front-end teams on shared infrastructureDesigning and building systems where both reliability and speed are non-negotiableOwning meaningful technical work with a high degree of independenceEngaging directly with engineering, trading, and founder-level stakeholdersRequired experienceStrong C++ engineering ability, this is the foundation of the roleHands-on experience building high-performance or latency-sensitive systemsAbility to reason clearly about streaming systems, performance trade-offs, and system designStrong ownership mindset, you are comfortable operating independently in a small teamSolid Linux systems knowledgeClear communicator who can work effectively across engineering and trading stakeholdersComfortable working close to front-office users and understanding their requirements directlyBachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical fieldPrior experience in high-frequency trading or latency-sensitive environments is a strong advantage
