Magic Molecule is a hypochlorous acid skin health company that launched just over a year ago, and is becoming the next cult-favorite skincare product, with reviews calling it “the holy grail” and customers exclaiming it “saved their skin.” Magic Molecule combines the best of a first aid kit and top-tier skincare, capable of healing over 50 skin ailments—from diaper rash to bug bites to eczema. Magic Molecule recently launched chainwide at Ulta is growing incredibly fast, planning to launch on Amazon Q1’25.
Smiling Scientist is a hypochlorous acid surface disinfectant company that is launching in Spring of 2025.We anticipate for Smiling Scientist to be a huge success, launching with a major natural grocery retailer.
Magic Science Supply represents our contract manufacturing business, producing all products for us and a few contractors, as well as where our two other brands live: Skinsmart (skin health) & Cleansmart (surface disinfectant). Skinsmart and Cleansmart dominate Amazon currently, generating over $25mm annually in sales.
Job Summary: The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing our accounting department and ensure all financial operations are conducted accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively. The Accounting Manager will also enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances (alongside Director of Finance & Fractional CFO)
Prepare and publish timely monthly/quarterly financial statements.
Oversight on cash burn/flow with associated reporting
Payment/Oversee of credit cards
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
Assist and research technical accounting issues for compliance.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Work cross-functionally with department leads to ensure best practices and execution of pertinent items
Lead invoicing process and procedures both internally and externally with third party vendors
Set up bank accounts and manage banking relationships
Lead payroll services & tax compliance alongside our payroll provider
Advise executive leadership on operations activities, develop financial strategy, including risk minimization and growth opportunities
Monitor all third party relationships from accounting/payments perspective
Qualifications:
Working experience as an Accounting Manager.
5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
CPA or CMA preferred.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process/creating financial statements
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
