Analytical Laboratory Technologist
Location: East St. LouisEmployment Term: 2-year contractSchedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime to support business needs and trainingReports To: Quality Systems ManagerCompensation: $27–$29 per hourA day in this roleYou arrive to the East St. Louis site ready to ensure every product leaving our facilities meets exacting standards. You review the day’s queue of samples, don your PPE, and begin by preparing solids and liquids—carefully weighing, filtering, drying, grinding, digesting, and performing extractions. You follow SOPs to the letter, run wet chemistry analyses, interpret results, and compile meticulous records. Where required, you generate Certificates of Analysis, so customers receive documentation they can trust.Between runs, you keep instruments humming by performing minor repairs and preventive maintenance. A production question comes in about a quality deviation—you assist with troubleshooting, collaborating across operations to pinpoint root causes. You also keep the lab supplied, tracking inventory and ordering what’s needed. When demand spikes, you step in as backup for the Chemist, helping the team hit deadlines and exceed expectations.What you’ll take onExecute sample analyses using internal and external analytical methodologiesAdhere to SOPs and maintain precise, compliant documentationPrepare samples: weighing, filtering, drying, grinding, digestions, and extractionsPerform wet chemistry testing and issue Certificates of Analysis when applicableSupport management in ensuring deliveries meet or surpass customer requirementsConduct minor equipment repairs and preventive maintenanceAssist with resolving operational quality issuesManage lab inventory and support procurement of suppliesServe as backup for the Chemist as neededPrepare, certify, and package samples for shipment to internal and external customersOther duties as assignedWhat you bringBachelor’s degree in a physical science or related field preferred; an analytical-focused associate degree and/or relevant experience consideredStrong attention to detail, adaptability, initiative, and clear communication; leadership qualities welcomedAbility to work with minimal supervision while maintaining safe, environmentally responsible, and reliable operationsPhysical demands and work environmentRegularly sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouchOccasionally lift or move items up to 55 lbsColor vision acuity to detect subtle shifts during wet chemistry titrations (e.g., yellow, brown, red, orange, green, blue, pink, white, black)Why ChemtradeChemtrade is committed to safety, sustainability, and environmental stewardship—values that guide how we serve customers and operate our facilities.
