Job DescriptionAll candidates should make sure to read the following job description and information carefully before applying.The Impact You Can MakeThe Pharmacists main responsibilities are to ensure the safe and appropriate use of drugs, optimize the pharmaceutical care of the patient, and to provide authoritative drug information to other healthcare professionals and patients. The Pharmacist also coordinates the timely manufacturing and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. Provided immediate supervision for Pharmacy Technician functions within the pharmacy.The Glens Falls Hospital ImpactMissionOur Mission is to improve the health of people in our region by providing access to exceptional, affordable, and patient-centered care every day and in every setting.How You Will Fulfill Your PotentialResponsibilitiesInterprets, reviews and evaluates medication orders for optimal dose, dosage form, frequency, concentration, duration, drug-drug interactions, drug-disease state interaction, drug allergy interaction, and potential cross allergenicity, taking into account the patient's special or age related needs, to ensure optimal drug therapy, high quality patient care and timely dispensing of accurate and appropriate medications. Dispenses medications by reviewing patient specific bulk medications and pyxis fills and refills for accuracy of the right medication, dose, dose form, strength, size, quantity to ensure accurate, timely and safe pharmaceutical care. Participates in process improvement teams within the department and organization to build strong relationships with staff members, demonstrates GFH core values and enhances financial viability.Education/Experience:Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy from a pharmacy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.Licenses/Certificates/RegistrationsCurrent, active license to practice pharmacy New York State; or eligible to reciprocate licensure from another statePharmacy Registration in New York StateSkills/Abilities:The pharmacist needed to following:Communication and language skills to read analyze and interpret medication orders and information, the ability to respond appropriately to emergent situation, staff, physicians, and patient inquiries or complaints and the ability to effectively communicate important information tomanagement peers and other health professionals.Ability to perform complex Pharmaceutical calculations and an understanding of statistical concepts such as frequency, distribution, standard deviation and variances.The pharmacist needs the ability to solve clinical problems related to pharmaceutical care and drug therapy.Knowledge of current pharmacy principles and practicesKnowledge of computer order entry Knowledge of federal and state laws governing pharmacy practicesKnowledge of regulatory requirements and standardsAbility to work independently within established policies and proceduresAbility to accomplish established program goals and objectivesAbility to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacyCommunities We ServeLocated in the foothills of the beautiful Adirondack mountains, Glens Falls is conveniently located a short drive away from the capital region and Lake George.
