Job SummaryThe Propane Filler will be responsible for safely and accurately filling propane tanks according to DOT and company safety standards. Key duties will involve inspecting cylinders for damage, operating filling equipment, ensuring correct fill levels, performing leak tests, and handling the loading and unloading of tanks.Job ResponsibilitiesExamine empty propane cylinders for defects, damage, or leaks before filling.Operate equipment to fill cylinders to the specified pressure or weight, ensuring they are not overfilled.Use a chemical solution to test the cylinder valve for leaks after filling.Handle and operate filling equipment, which may include using a wrench for valve adjustment and a torque wrench.Load and unload filled and empty cylinders from trucks or racks, often manually or with equipment like a hoist or forklift.Fill out and attach tags with information such as the cylinder number, tare and gross weight, type of gas, and date filled. Job QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentPrior experience in manufacturing, filling or loading is beneficial but not requiredStrong level of attention to detail and strong verbal communication skills are important.Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Physically capable of lifting, bending, and moving heavy propane tanks. (75lbs+)
