In this role, the Project Engineer will bridge the gap between field crews, management, and government agencies to ensure complex projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities to support project schedules and budgetsDesign, review, and implement temporary works and construction means and methods with a strong emphasis on safetyInspect installed work, equipment, and materials; identify issues and coordinate corrective actions as neededProvide on-site direction and technical support to foremen, crews, and subcontractorsMonitor project progress and prepare accurate daily reports, quantities, and documentationPerform quality control inspections to ensure work complies with contract documents, plans, and specificationsVerify materials and workmanship meet project requirements and approved submittalsEnforce safety policies, OSHA regulations, and proper use of PPE on the job siteSupport project cost tracking, schedule updates, and coordination with project stakeholdersAssist with communication between the field, project management, owners, and inspectorsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related engineering disciplineMinimum of three (3) years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar role in heavy civil or highway constructionStrong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and materials used in civil infrastructure projectsWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations and job-site safety practicesHigh attention to detail with strong organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work extended hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays, as required to meet project schedulesWorking ConditionsThis project is located in Albuquerque, NM. Subsequent projects will be nationally based.Work is primarily performed on active construction job sites, including highways, roadways, and heavy civil infrastructure projects.Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust.Position requires walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting in a construction environment.Frequent interaction with heavy equipment, moving machinery, traffic, and construction hazards; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.Travel between job sites may be required depending on project location.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all job sites.Ames Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
