Class A Regional Driver

Drivers are hauling primarily bananas and occasionally pineapples or plantains. They will pull loads from the drop yard just down the street from the port. They may directly pick up from the port if needed. Drivers will haul a 40' container on a chassis to various customer locations. They work on weekends so expect to run every weekend. Home Time Drivers are typically home after every dispatch. Only exception is if you run the Brooklyn, NY lane or if you run out of hours due to traffic or breakdown. Equipment Type 40' containers and chassis 2023 Kenworth T680 or 2024 Freightliner Cascadia Automatic Drivers must be comfortable with slip seating (another driver uses the truck in their off time) Freight Types Mostly Drop and Hook of containers with exception of a few lanes that are live unload. This is a no touch freight account. Truck Speed 65 pedal and cruise Bonus New Hire Transition Bonus: $500– paid in full on second paycheck Referral Bonus: $3,000 – Paid out at $1,000 on second paycheck; $1,000 at 60 days, and $1,000 at 120 days. Accessorial Pay Drop and Hooks- $8.30 Stop/Live Unload/Live Load: $40.50 Delay after 2 hours on Stop/Live Unload/Live Load: $17.00 There is no layover pay even though the drivers will have layovers multiple times throughout the week. Parking On site at drop yard near Wilmington, DE port Requirements 12 months of container experience TWIC card but if they do not have one then we require them to get a TWIC card during the first week onsite and they are reimbursed the cost after 90 days Other Mostly late evening and night driving Drivers are required to go out with a trainer to learn the account before they can run solo. Length of training depends on driver's performance and trainer's evaluation Chiquita has been a customer for 18+ years and we are their dedicated carrier. Meaning our drivers need to be willing to be flexible to their needs and possible changes day of on lanes. Julio and Fernanda are dispatchers for this account. They have a good report with their drivers. As an issue arises they are handled promptly. Drivers are responsible for keeping the truck they run in clean. This a slip seat account so we don't allow the driver to leave anything in the truck at the end of their run.
