We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager to join our San Antonio office. This senior‑level position offers the opportunity to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams on a wide range of federal, DoD and civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will serve as both a technical authority and project manager, responsible for project delivery, staff supervision, and client engagement from concept through completion. This hybrid position is based in San Antonio, Texas, with an expectation of working in the office at least two days per week. The role requires monthly travel to various client sites throughout the United States, with travel anticipated at approximately 70 % of the time. Main Responsibilities Provide technical leadership, project management, and program oversight for multiple concurrent mechanical and civil engineering projects within the federal sector. Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, designers, and technical staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring high‑quality project outcomes. Serve as the primary client point of contact, maintaining strong relationships with federal agencies, DoD stakeholders, and other project partners. Oversee the planning, design, analysis, and implementation of complex mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Ensure compliance with federal, DoD, and local codes, standards, and specifications, and provide quality assurance for technical deliverables. Manage project budgets, schedules, scopes of work, and resource allocation, ensuring adherence to contractual and financial requirements. Coordinate and review design documentation, submittals, cost estimates (RSMeans preferred), and contractor proposals. Conduct site assessments, field inspections, and construction support activities, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions. Oversee and provide direction to subcontractors and consultants, as needed, to ensure alignment with project goals and performance standards. Prepare and review technical reports, correspondence, and formal submittals for client and internal approval. Promote and ensure adherence to company and site‑specific safety standards across all project activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. State (required). Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including project management and supervisory roles. Demonstrated experience managing federal or DoD mechanical engineering projects from design through construction. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across engineering, architectural, and construction disciplines. Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); Revit and ANSYS experience preferred. Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems design and analysis. Experience with energy modeling, building performance analysis, and sustainability standards. Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate multi‑discipline cost estimates and manage budgets and schedules. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with a focus on delivering high‑quality, compliant work. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with federal and DoD contracts preferred. Government Security Clearance (preferred, or ability to obtain). Must pass a background check, drug test, and MVR check.
