Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Aide to support our after-school
elementary music programs in band and/or strings. The aide will assist lead instructors in
managing classes, preparing materials, and supporting students in grades 3–8 as they
learn to play musical instruments and read sheet music. This role is ideal for individuals
passionate about music education and working with children.
Responsibilities:
Assist lead instructors during band and strings classes
Help students with instrument setup, posture, and technique
Support classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment
Prepare and organize music materials and instruments
Assist with rehearsals and performances throughout the school year
Monitor student progress and provide encouragement
Ensure classroom safety and support student engagement
Minimum Requirements:
Enthusiastic and engaging personality, especially with children
Basic knowledge of music theory and ability to read sheet music
Familiarity with common band and string instruments (e.g., flute, violin, trumpet, cello)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with instructors
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children in an educational or extracurricular setting
Enrollment in or completion of a music education or performance program
Ability to assist with conducting and ensemble coordination
Additional Requirements: Live Scan fingerprinting
TB test
CPR certification
Sexual Harassment & Bullying training (provided by ALC)
Mandated Reporter Training (provided by ALC)
