Electrical Designer

Job DescriptionElectrical DesignerKey Job Elements:This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your drafting skills, while working in a multi-disciplined team environment with other designers and/or engineers in the preparation of design drawings based on design inputModifies electrical schematics, drawings, and electrical panel layouts Working from sketches, verbal instructions and observations, incumbents will use computer assisted drafting (CAD) software to layout equipment and facilities, revise existing drawings, prepare preliminary drawings, check dimension of partsUpdate drawings to redlines as needed for productionSupport the drawing release process as required to ensure configuration management is maintainedAssist with electrical component selection and electrical bill of materials as neededReview schematics and bills of materials for accuracy and makes any necessary changesResponsibilities:The following is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities that are expected of this position; however, additional duties may be assigned, as required.Preparing complete drawings, charts and diagrams of moderate complexityWork closely with senior design engineers to develop electrical drawings using AutoCADProvide support to production regarding electrical schematic designs Other responsibilities may include preparation of bills of material, resolution of client comments and as-built drawing preparationAssignments will be completed utilizing information provided by engineers or design staff under the direction of a supervisor Education/Requirements: Associate’s degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or equivalent experience in the design of electrical systems may substitute year for year for degreeAbility to work in a team environment with deadlinesOperation of AutoCAD computer program efficiently Basic knowledge of low voltage circuitsThe candidate must be able to draft electrical schematics in a 2-D environment as per project requirementsAbility to use MS Office suite of programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)Physical Requirements:Able to sit for prolonged periodsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbsDisclaimer:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
