The focus will be on procurement processes, supporting production planning execution, and other supply chain activities. Throughout the assignment, there will be a heavy emphasis placed on safety, teamwork, and process improvements.How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRockLeads by example, safety and accountability are fundamental responsibilities of each team member.Helps to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts for on-time packaging machinery build and assembly to drive on-time final packaging machine delivery to Smurfit WestRock’s business customers.Ensures safe and healthful working conditions and an organized work environment.Support the Vision, Mission & Values of Smurfit WestRock Safety and Operational Programs.ResponsibilitiesIssue, update, and monitor purchase orders to ensure accurate data, reporting, and delivery issues with suppliers by proactively finding solutions and stressing urgency of deliveries to keep projects on schedule.Monitor Purchasing group mailbox to capture data and transfer to ERP tool.Interfacing with multiple departments within Smurfit Westrock (Receiving, Performance Excellence, Engineering, Production, and Accounts Payable) to complete work tasks and projectsDocument and Update Job Related Work Processes and ProceduresSend large component quote packages out for bid to multiple suppliers. Receive, manage, and organize returned information.What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Requirements)3 years of experience in purchasing/procurement and supporting a technical operations environment with lead time constraints3-years of related experience in RFQ processes – vendor competitive bidding3-5 years purchasing or procurementProvides exceptional support by clearly communicating with internal teams and maintaining strong, professional interactions with suppliersTeamwork and collaboration skillsExperience with ERP systems similar to JD Edwards, Jobscope or IFS in material management or production planningIntermediate proficiency with MS Office suite (Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communicationWillingness to call suppliers outside the organization with sense of urgency and assertivenessAbility to work independently and multi-taskStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAble to read, interpret, and understand Mechanical Technical DrawingsSome understanding of part fabrication processes - Milling, Lathe, and Laser Sheetmetal fabricationWhat will make you stand out for this role (Preferred Requirements)Advanced VLookup and pivot table analysis skills in ExcelDemand forecasting experienceStrong influential communication skills5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment3+ years of strategic/preferred vendor management experienceSome college or higher educationCandidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by state or federal law.
