VOIP Enterprise Architect
VOIP Enterprise Architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining the strategic architecture and technical framework for Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) systems. This role involves designing scalable, secure, and resilient VOIP solutions that align with Department of Defense (DoD) standards, enterprise architecture frameworks, and mission requirements. The Architect will serve as the senior technical authority, providing guidance on system integration, modernization efforts, and cybersecurity compliance.Security Clearance: Secret with Top Secret eligibilityKey Responsibilities:Develop and oversee the enterprise-level VOIP architecture, including system design, integration, and lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and DoD enterprise standardsCollaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze existing VOIP environments, and identify gaps or areas for improvementDefine technical standards, policies, and frameworks for VOIP infrastructure, including hardware, software, protocols (SIP, H.323), and security measuresProvide guidance on integrating VOIP solutions with existing communications, network, and cybersecurity architecturesLead the selection of VOIP hardware and software, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and securityDesign and recommend network topologies, bandwidth requirements, QoS policies, and redundancy measures to optimize voice traffic performanceDrive modernization initiatives, including migrations to new VOIP platforms, cloud-based telephony, and advancements in unified communicationsEnsure all VOIP systems meet cybersecurity standards, including DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DoD cybersecurity policiesDevelop, review, and approve technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and system specificationsLead technical input during contract proposal development, Statements of Work (SOW), and Performance Work Statements (PWS)Provide expert advice during system implementation, testing, and validation phasesFacilitate technical reviews, audits, and compliance assessmentsMentor and collaborate with technical teams, including VOIP engineers, network engineers, and cybersecurity specialistsKeep abreast of emerging VOIP and unified communications technologies, emerging threats, and best practicesQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or a related field; advanced certifications or degrees preferredMinimum of 10 years of experience in VOIP architecture design, enterprise communications, or related telecommunications roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership or architecture capacityProven experience designing and implementing enterprise VOIP solutions in government or large enterprise environmentsExpertise with Cisco VoIP solutions, including Cisco Call Manager, Unity, and associated technologiesDeep understanding of VOIP protocols (SIP, H.323, RTP), telephony hardware, and cloud-based unified communication platformsStrong knowledge of network design, security, and enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, DoDAF)Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including RMF, DISA STIGs, and cybersecurity accreditation processesExcellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skillsEffective communicator with the ability to coordinate across technical teams, management, and stakeholdersAbility to develop and present technical plans, architectures, and reports effectivelyWillingness to travel as required for site visits, assessments, and stakeholder meetingsWork Environment:This role requires collaboration with government officials, technical teams, and contractors within secure and potentially classified environments. The Architect will operate primarily in an office setting, with site visits as necessary.
