1st Shift - Experienced R&D Setup Technician - Actively HiringWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Experienced R&D Setup Technician to join our machining department - first shift within a leading zinc and aluminum die casting operation.This role is responsible for setting up, testing, and optimizing machining processes for new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC machining, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work closely with engineering and production teams to bring new components from concept to production.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, and secondary equipment) for R&D and prototype workInterpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specificationsAssist in developing and refining machining processes for zinc and aluminum die cast componentsPerform tooling changes, offsets, and machine adjustmentsCollaborate with engineering teams on new product launches and process improvementsConduct test runs and document results, making recommendations for optimizationTroubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actionsEnsure quality standards are met through inspections and measurements (calipers, micrometers, gauges)Maintain a clean and safe work environmentQualifications2+ years of CNC setup experience (R&D or prototype work preferred)Experience machining zinc and/or aluminum die cast parts is a strong plusAbility to read and interpret blueprints and GD&TFamiliarity with CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, or similar)Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detailBasic understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, and material behaviorAbility to work independently and as part of a teamSubmission to a criminal background checkPreferred SkillsExperience in a die casting or metal manufacturing environmentKnowledge of CAD/CAM softwareLean manufacturing or continuous improvement experienceStrong communication skills for cross-functional collaborationCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay based on experienceHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidaysOpportunities for advancement within a growing companyJoin a company at the forefront of precision die casting and play a key role in developing innovative machining solutions.
