DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Day to day supervision of QA team (4-5 direct reports)Knowledge of food ingredient functionalityAbility to read and analyze formulasAbility to write product specs and proceduresAbility to collect and analyze dataMust be able to use lab analytically equipmentKnowledge and understanding of GMP's, SSOP's, food safety rules and regulationsKnowledge of USDA and FDA regulationsComplies with all company policies and proceduresMust have excellent communication skillsUnderstand and adhere to government regulations and documentation requirementsTaking retains; of finished and raw productOversees production QA checks and audits all data of daily productionHandling all USDA paperworkAssurance of safe and sanitary practices upheld throughout the plant according to company policies and product specific events/tasks.Responsible for managing the Document Management ProgramProduct testing against spec sheetsMicrobiological testingMaster Sanitation ScheduleEnsures Allergen Management Program is being followedUnderstands and can learn to write HACCP plansEnsures company Quality Management system is in place and up to dateEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCETwo to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Able to write and develop specific, accurate, and scalable recipes and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, staff and owners.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of weights and measures. Ability to apply concepts such as ratios, and proportions for ingredient and nutritional information.PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to regularly stand, stoop, kneel and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet. Exposure to outdoor elements is possible on a daily basis. Must be responsible for dressing accordingly and being prepared for any type of weather.
