Brake Test EngineerWhat You Will Do:Develop brake systems through subjective and objective in-house testing for Hyundai/KIA/Genesis NA vehiclesCollaborate with and support the Vehicle Test and Development Teams, global brake engineering groups, and the marketing and quality divisions with braking effortsProvide experience/perspective on understanding the North American market, in particular, customer usage and expectationsConduct objective benchmarking of competitor vehicles and quantify Hyundai/Kia/Genesis products at specified development gateway pointsSupport customer preference studies and turn subjective targets developed in benchmarking activities into measurable development parametersPerform brake-related testing and data analysisSupport the development of NA-specific braking aspects, including pedal feel and regenerative braking controlsDevelop in-house testing, specify and procure test-specific instrumentation (as needed)Assist in planning and monitoring the team budgetCreate and present technical reports (as assigned)Mentor junior engineers on best practices and facilitate on-the-job learningTravel up to 30%, both domestically and internationallyWhat You Will Bring to the Role:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field of study3+ years of experience testing and evaluating vehicle dynamics5+ years of brake testing and development experienceWell-versed with brake evaluation principles and practices concerning automotive vehicle dynamicsVast knowledge of SAE and FMVSS test procedures and methods relating to automotive brakingAdept at working with automotive data acquisition systems and sensors, such as CAN busProficient driving skillsKnowledge of electrified vehicle architecture (i.e., brake-by-wire and regenerative braking systems)Capability of working in extreme temperatures, ranging from -40o F (in the winter) to +120o F (in the summer)Ability to work up to an altitude of 14,000 feetFamiliarity with Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and WordFlexibility with program and process changes, as Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is willing to make late changes to satisfy customer needsExcellent time management, self-management, and organization skillsProject management experienceStrong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skillsAbility to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersWhat Hyundai Can Offer You:Zero-dollar Employee Premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision for You and Your Family100% Employer-paid Disability and Life InsuranceGenerous Paid Time Off, Including Vacation, Sick, and Abundant HolidaysCompetitive SalariesRange of Position: $80,000 ~ $125,000/YearA Global Environment that Fosters DiversityRetirement Savings and Planning BenefitsAccess to Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending AccountsFlexible Work HoursOther Details:* Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
