Assistant Controller - Entry Level

Our business operates with our motto “honesty, integrity and reliability.” We are a growing electrical contracting company providing commercial, agricultural, and residential electrical services throughout our market. *Position Summary* The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller to perform accounting functions, financial reporting, job costing, and construction-related accounting activities. This role is ideal for an individual with accounting knowledge who is also capable of expanding their knowledge base across all areas of the business. *Key Responsibilities* * Directly handle Accounts Receivable, lien waiver tracking, fleet vehicle requirements, and other construction accounting requirements. * Directly handle contracts, billings, and project compliance of sub-tier contractors. * Assist in daily accounting/business operations, including accounts payable, training employees on certain functions as they relate to company expenses, and purchase order management. * Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and fleet fuel statements. * AP/AR aging monitoring and reporting, taking action to address problems to manage risk related to cash flow. * Assist with project budgeting and support project managers with job cost reporting * Support month-end and year-end close processes. * Assist in preparation for external audits, tax filings, and financial reviews. * Ensure compliance with company policies. *Qualifications* *Required* * 2+ years of accounting experience, * Strong understanding of general accounting principles. * Solid Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. * Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. *Preferred* * Experience in construction, electrical contracting, or related trades. * Knowledge of job costing and WIP reporting. * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. * Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 100 Contractor, Sage CRE, Viewpoint, Foundation, CMiC, or similar platforms. *What We Offer* * Competitive salary based on experience, $60K-$75K/yr. * Health, dental, and vision insurance * 401(k) with company match * Paid time off and holidays * Professional development and growth opportunities * Stable and growing company culture *How to Apply* Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your accounting experience, particularly within construction or contracting environments.
