TITLESubstitute Bus DriverPOSITION TYPENon- ExemptPRIMARY FUNCTIONPerforms routine bus driving duties transporting students to and from assigned schools; transports students for special events and field tripsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be 21 years of age or olderValid Mississippi motor vehicle operator's licenseAbility to meet Mississippi School Bus Commercial Driver License requirementsLocal and state standards for driving testState required physicalAbility to operate all vehicle types (from 15 passenger van buses to 72-passenger vehicles) used in transporting studentsThorough knowledge of State highway operating rules and proceduresAbility to deal with exuberant behavioral characteristics of youthful riders REPORTS TOEach driver shall be directly responsible to the principal of the school(s) served on matters related to student discipline and patron relations.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain valid MS School Bus Commercial Driver LicenseInspect vehicle prior to and after daily operations for maintenance discrepanciesOperate a school bus over established routes in an efficient and punctual mannerMaintain student discipline while operating a school bus following guidelines established by the School BoardDrive defensively under varying traffic conditionsPerform housekeeping duties inside and outside the school busDemonstrate knowledge of rules and regulations promulgated by local, state, and federal authoritiesAct in a professional manner exhibiting a positive image in dealing with students, parents, and school division personnelConduct emergency evacuation drills in keeping with division regulationsOperate a school bus on special trip assignmentsReport personal absences to supervisor allowing sufficient time to secure a substituteReport vehicle maintenance problems to Director of TransportationPerform other duties as assigned by the Director of TransportationTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT180 days Salary according to School Board Pay ScheduleEVALUATIONPerformance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
