Summary: Under general supervision, Student Assistant A is responsible for assisting with various tasks. This position is designed to provide opportunities to students to hone customer service skills, team development, and foster professional growth.
The Bronco Bookstore has a variety of openings and applicants will be interviewed and sorted into the differing areas of the Bookstore depending on which best fits their skills and availability.
Some of the things that you will get to do (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
Accurately process sales transactions and refunds
Accurately handle various payment types
Clean, stock and maintain a safe working environment at all times
Back office tasks such as inventory counting and system data entry
Provide a good balance of technical and people skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
Prepare documents/materials as necessary
Possess the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, handle confidential materials appropriately, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy
Assist individuals via phone, email or in person
Assist with special projects
Must be able to communicate regularly with direct supervisor all work status updates as well as task completions
The student assistant must possess the ability to work well with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Must be a current Cal Poly Pomona student.
Preferred qualifications:
Proficiency in using the latest version of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and mail merges; email and web searches.
