Engineering Technical Writer

Part-time remote work, 20 hours a week. Candidate needs to work in pacific time zone as per business needs.Duties:Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia, web-based publications and user sites; may produce content for embedded user assistance technology.Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.May document engineering processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.Required Skills:Excellent proficiency in English communication.Proficient in American English, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure.Experience working with and formatting “styles” in Microsoft Word.Experience creating and editing PowerPoint-based swim lane flowcharts.Able to independently engage with subject matter experts and document owners to facilitate content development and revisions.Able to provide technical writing support, ensuring that documents submitted to eDMS and iPLM comply with eDMS and EST content and formatting standards where applicable.Additionally Preferred Skills:Knowledge of document formatting for Engineering standards.Able to develop high-level process maps that link the Engineering standards, procedures, work instructions, and forms into a visual representation of their collective association and/or process flow.Able to provide contextual and hierarchical guidance for the SMEs prior to developing a new document.Work with the SMEs to develop and provide Engineering standards-related training material to the engineering community.Education:Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
