Prep Cook

Scope and Purpose:The Line/Prep Cook is an enthusiastic member of the kitchen staff who ensures that breakfast and lunch restaurant guests have an exceptional dining experience.Essential Functions:Prepare ingredients for entrees in advance. This will include chopping and slicing fruits and vegetables, peeling potatoes and washing food prior to cooking.Assist cooks in preparation and service of all menu items including salads, soups, and sauces. Stir stocks, sauces, dressings, and other pots upon cooks' requests.Store and properly handle raw or prepared foods and non-food supplies. Rotate all products properly. Use safe and hygienic food handling practices at all times.Wash dishes and pots, operate dish washing equipment, and distribute and store clean pots, dishes and utensils when needed.Keep a clean, sanitary, prepared and organized work space throughout the entire shift, including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, refrigeration equipment, and any other kitchen equipment and areas. Take out trash when needed.Attend staff meetings (including all safety meetings) upon request.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Must be able to read, understand, and communicate effectively in EnglishKnowledge of cooking procedures and kitchen equipmentKnowledge of safety rules for kitchen equipmentAbility to communicate professionally at all times with all staff membersAbility to work in a high pace, hot kitchen environmentAbility to self-motivateAbility and willingness to follow written and verbal instructionsPhysical Requirements:Constant standing, walking, seeing, hearing, talking, smelling.
