Food Service WorkerMain Function: Ensures the Food and Nutrition Services Department remains safe and hygienic by performing tasks such as cleaning, mopping, emptying trash, washing pots, and adhering to established cleanliness protocols.Duties and Responsibilities:Washes and organizes all pots, pans, and utensils in a safe and orderly manner. Maintains cleanliness of the pot rack, garbage disposal, food flap, and surrounding walls in the pot area.Sweeps and mops floors daily across production, salad, trayline areas, storerooms, hallways, and offices within the Food and Nutrition Services Department, following correct mopping procedures.Collects trash and boxes, breaks down boxes, and places them in the compactor. Keeps trash cans and dumpsters clean.Cleans and organizes coolers, freezers, and storage spaces.Transports food and supplies as needed to catering events and the Cafeteria. Removes leftover food and empty pans from the Cafeteria.Changes the grease in the deep fryer weekly.Prepares the dishmachine and performs deliming weekly (typically on weekends).Receives deliveries and stores items appropriately, rotating stock as necessary.Adheres to daily and weekly cleaning schedules.Covers, labels, dates, and stores leftovers in the blast chiller.Stocks the milk chest, removes empty milk crates, and transports them to the loading dock.Cleans all kitchen equipment daily, including kettles, steamers, flat tops, lowerators, grills, ovens, and hoods.Delivers and sets up PM catering functions.Complies with dress code by wearing proper attire and consistently displays I.D. badge.Operates equipment safely and correctly.Performs additional related duties as assigned.Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. Must be able to read and write English.Experience: Prior food service experience preferred.Contacts: Interacts with all hospital staff, patients, and visitors.Physical Demands: Requires constant standing, bending, lifting, walking, and being on feet for most of the day.Working Conditions: Exposure to hot, humid environments as well as freezers and coolers. Hazards: Potential exposure to hazardous equipment and chemical cleaning agents. Floors may be slippery in the work area.
