Description:GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment by performing the following duties.Is this your next job Read the full description below to find out, and do not hesitate to make an application.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPlans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.Connects power cables to equipment, such as an electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as an ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.Repairs faulty equipment or systems. Must be available for on-call and to respond to after-hours emergencies.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties summarized above and possess the skills and competencies summarized herein. Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school plus a minimum of four (4) years industry-related experience and/or training. Current Texas Journeyman License required.ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate power lift, pallet jack, production equipment such as liquid fillers or filling machines, tablet counters, bottle unscrambler, cappers, induction sealers, labelers, shrink-wrap machines, bundlers, liquid pumps, case packers and sealers. The floor may be slippery.COMMUNICATION SKILLSMust be able to (i) read and understand technical documents, such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; (ii) effectively communicate information and respond to questions, orally and in writing, in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both in American Standard and Metric Systems.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. xhyhwjd Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
