JOB SUMMARYThe Electronic / Mechanical Technician independently performs repair, calibration, testing, and validation of industrial electronic and electro-mechanical equipment. This role requires solid technical proficiency and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve most issues with minimal supervision while ensuring all repaired units meet company quality, safety, and performance standards.The Technician diagnoses, repairs, and validates equipment including PLCs, drives, industrial PCBs, timers, counters, monitors, servo motors, and temperature and process control devices. Responsibilities include advanced troubleshooting to the component level, precision soldering and rework, calibration, and functional testing using a variety of diagnostic instruments.This position requires strong knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical systems, the ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation, and sound problem-solving skills. The Technician is responsible for accurate repair documentation within company IT systems, maintaining productivity targets.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform bench-level electronic and electro-mechanical repairs using industry-standard troubleshooting, soldering, and diagnostic techniquesIsolate failures at the component level on industrial control equipmentRepair, calibrate, program, and functionally test industrial electronics, including PLCs, drives, industrial PCBs, timers, counters, monitors, and temperature/process controlsUtilize test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, function generators, and test fixtures to verify proper operation and performancePerform power-up, diagnostic, and functional testing on all repaired units to ensure quality and reliabilityInspect, clean, and verify part numbers on all units processedOrder replacement parts as required and ensure correct components are used in repairsAccurately document repair actions, troubleshooting steps, parts used, and test results in company tracking and IT systemsProcess pre-evaluation units to "RTS" (Ready to Sell) condition in accordance with quality standardsEnsure proper handling, labeling, and storage of all units throughout the repair processSupport and adhere to established quality methods, processes, and proceduresShare best practices, technical knowledge, and lessons learned to support team development and consistencyEffectively manage time and prioritize workload to meet productivity and turnaround expectationsProperly use and maintain shop assets, tools, and test fixtures; provide and maintain personal hand and power tools as requiredCollaborate effectively in a team environment while serving as a trusted subject-matter expert within the departmentSupport development of new capabilities, technologies, and product lines, including servo and robotics systems when applicableMETRICSOn Time DeliveryUnits per dayRate of returnADS FTETRIFQUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GED requiredTechnical certificate or associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related field preferredInternship, trade school lab experience, or military technical training considered a plusMust understand the repair of Industrial Controls cycleStrong technical skills: ability to learn and understandMust be a driven individual and Team playerRequired to bring your own tools as specified by the hiring managerKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREDBasic understanding of electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, ICs, etc.)Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsFundamental soldering and de-soldering skillsFamiliarity with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopesBasic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools safelyUnderstanding of basic PLCs, drives, or industrial control equipment is a plusStrong Computer proficiencyBeing able to multi-taskAbility to work at fast paceAbility to work independentlyDetail orientedProblem solving abilitiesGood communication skillsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or Equivalent2-4 years of experience in electronics repair, electro-mechanical assembly, or industrial main-tenance preferredTechnical certificate or associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related field preferredCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS* Technical School Certification (related field) preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDSOccasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawlingFrequent walkingContinuous standing and repetitive hand motionLifting requirements include occasional lifting to 50 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and continuous lifting of up to 10 poundsWORK SCHEDULEThis is a full-time position with regular hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required on Saturdays based on customer demand and is mandatory unless cancelled by senior management due to acceptable customer service levels. Additional overtime may also be scheduled as needed. Employees are expected to adhere strictly to attendance and coverage policies. Time off will be granted with proper formal notice and in accordance with company policy.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe environment is a warehouse setting. Dress attire is casual but professional in a warehouse setting. All employees are required to wear Security access card and encouraged to wear apparel with company logo. All employees must always adhere to Safety Policies. All handheld users are required to wear the appropriate belt/holster assembly while a unit is in their possession.Closed toe, hard soled shoes must be worn. Safety shoes are recommended.Production Floor Environment: This position is based on a moderately loud production floor where employees must be able to work safely around mobbing machinery, robotic equipment, and material handling vehicles. The environment includes frequent exposure to mechanical noise, alarms, and activity from people and machines.Sensory Environment: Employees must be able to verbally communicate and hear clearly to answer phones, respond to auditory alarms, and remain aware of robotic systems, forklifts, utility vehicles, and other personnel. Good visual acuity is essential to monitor the surrounding area for moving equipment and material transfers.
