Prototype Machinist 1st Shift (Lathe-Focused)

Basic Purpose and Objective of the PositionThe Prototype Machinist supports the Engineering team through the fabrication, building, testing, troubleshooting and modification of prototype products and testers.Major Responsibilities – reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:CNC Turning & Programming (Primary Focus)Develop, modify, and optimize NC programs for complex turned components.Program using G & M code and/or conversational controls.Utilize CAD/CAM software (Mastercam preferred) to generate efficient turning toolpaths.Establish machining strategies including tooling selection, workholding, and cycle optimization.Prove out programs and validate first-article parts.Achieve tight tolerances (up to ±2 microns where required).Milling & Multi-Axis Support (Secondary Capability)Support milling and multi-axis prototype projects as workload requires.Develop fixturing and machining strategies for complex geometries.Perform setup and operation across CNC platforms when needed.Engineering & Continuous ImprovementProvide DFM input during product development.Collaborate closely with engineering on feasibility and prototype builds.Develop custom fixturing solutions for complex geometries.Maintain job documentation and contribute to process improvements.Support cross-training, safety, and 5S initiatives.Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $34/hourly Depending on experienceQualifications Education, Experience & CertificationsMinimum 5 years of CNC setup, operation, and programming experience.Strong CNC turning and lathe programming experience (primary requirement)Strong G & M code knowledge (Fanuc-style controls preferred).Proven experience with multi-axis machining (3-axis minimum; 4/5-axis strongly preferred).Experience in high-mix / low-volume or prototype environments preferred.We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including Medical/Rx, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, Basic Life/AD&D (includes coverage for dependents 100% Company paid), Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability (100% Company paid), Supplemental Life/AD&D, 401(k) with Company match, tuition assistance after 1 year, paid time off, and 11 paid holidays.
