SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the firm’s accounting operations and financial processes. This position requires an accounting foundation, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt as responsibilities evolve. The Senior Accountant will work closely with finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and supporting schedules
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Manage or support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and trust accounting (IOLTA), as applicable
Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, firm policies, and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with external accountants and tax professionals
Support internal controls and process improvements within the accounting function
Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management
Note: This role may expand over time to include additional responsibilities based on firm needs and the candidate’s experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
WORK EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience (law firm or professional services experience preferred but not required)
Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting
Experience with accounting software; legal accounting systems a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools

Adaptability and willingness to take on evolving responsibilities
PREFERRED:
Prior corporate accounting or law firm experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Employee may need to sit for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Professional office environment
May require periodic overtime during month-end or year-end close
Hybrid or in-office schedule as determined by firm policy
The following are preferred office locations for the role: Bridgeport, WV; Charleston, WV; Huntington, WV; or Morgantown, WV. Consideration will also be given to the Firm’s other locations as well.
JOB STATUS: Exempt; full time; average of 37.5 hours per week.

Pay: Up to $85,000.00 per year
