About the Company: We are looking for a Project Engineer who wants to learn and complete elements of geotechnical engineering projects while being mentored by a Business Manager and an Engineering Manager. STRATA has been providing geotechnical engineering consulting and construction and materials testing within the intermountain west for 50 years! About the Role: Focus on gathering data in the field, interpreting that data, preparing reports, and minimizing liability. Interact with clients and other STRATA Engineers.Responsibilities:Finalize geotechnical engineering proposals, scopes of work and budgets.Prepare preliminary subsurface exploration plans (laying out boring/test pit locations) and assess access constraints.Perform geotechnical field work (includes observing drilling and/or excavation activities; recording relevant soil/rock data including classification, SPT N-values, Rock Quality Designations, etc.; and collecting soil/rock samples).Coordinate and supervise geotechnical field work.Establish and coordinate appropriate laboratory testing programs to meet geotechnical engineering project needs.Interpret field and laboratory data and incorporate into engineering analyses and design recommendations.Coordinate and perform geotechnical engineering analysis and calculations.Coordinate, supervise and final geotechnical engineering reports and other deliverables.Initiate and participate in client communication, both verbal and written.Attend and participate in project progress meetings with clients.Review and manage project budgets and schedules.Review project contracts prior to project start-up.Routinely work with government and regulatory agencies at the local, state and federal level.Provide training and mentoring of Staff Engineers in fundamental engineering analyses and technical practices through the project work.Support and participate in business and client development.Maintain active membership in professional and business organizations and serve on committees or as a board member.Participate in internal trainingQualifications:Knowledge of topographical and boundary surveys, improving site utilities, foundations, and soils.Three (3) years of experience using geotechnical engineering and analysis software including: pLog, gINT, Slope/W, Settle3D, LPILE, Driven, Modulus and AASHTOWare Pavement Design to perform analysis including slope stability analyses, settlement analyses (Settle3D), deep foundation analyses, and pavement analyses. Must have a valid driver’s license.Must pass a drug screen prior to hire.Must be willing and able to travel as necessary to support projects and/or other STRATA offices.Education and Experience Requirements:BS in Civil Engineering (with Geotechnical Engineering emphasis).
