You can build your future here!Job SummaryThe Field Service Technician - Paving is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing paving equipment in our at customer job sites/locations.Essential FunctionsTroubleshoots and repairs CAT paving products, including Pavers, Mills, Reclaimers, and Asphalt CompactorsEnsures exceptional levels of communication and support in fast paced high stress environmentTimely communication with customers and service coordinators on updates regarding repairs, parts, and other concernsWorks with the Service Department, Product Support Representatives, and Sales Department to meet all the customer’s needsComplete service reports on timeMaintain excellent customer supportApplies electrical and hydraulic schematics to repair workRemoves, repairs, and installs major components in varying configurations of equipmentMaintains toolingMakes decisions in the field on warranty repair and guidelines, communicating with the customer and service coordinatorStays current with and applies applicable Caterpillar updates to paving equipmentMaintains a safe work environment and complies with Company Safety Policy on PPE and inspectionsMaintains service truckOther duties as assigned by managerQualificationsHigh school diploma or (GED) equivalentWell-rounded knowledge of paving equipment (5+ years of mechanical/repair experience)Technical training in diesel engines required; Prior experience with Caterpillar equipment is preferredMust be proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.)Valid driver's license and a safe driving recordAble to work varying shifts as necessary, including weekends and holidaysMaintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasksJOB FACTSWork Schedule: 9am – 5 pm Monday – Friday; Schedule could vary depending on customer needs (i.e, traveling to job sites or customer locations, emergency calls, etc.)Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally lift 75 pounds from floor to chest. The employee must have the ability to reach and use the arms within a full range of motion in order to retrieve stocked parts. The employee must have the ability to endure prolonged stooping, kneeling, crouching and squatting while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to exert push/pull forces with the arms in order to use various wrenches and tools. The employee must be able to endure prolonged forward and overhead arm positions while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to use the hands to grasp hand tools and parts. The employee must have the ability to climb onto and operate equipment. The employee must have the ability to operate and maintain a field service vehicle with GVW of less than 26,000 lbs.Work Environment: Employee regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
