Tooling Engineer - Aluminum Forming & Stamping Must be local to the area- No RelocationIf you enjoy solving complex tooling challenges and seeing your designs come to life on the production floor, this is a strong opportunity to step into a highly visible engineering role within a stable manufacturing environment.This position is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on manufacturing, enjoys working cross-functionally, and has a passion for precision tooling, continuous improvement, and metal forming processes, especially within stamping and die-based production environments.What You’ll Be Working OnYou’ll play a key role in designing and improving tooling that directly impacts production efficiency, quality, and cost.Design and optimize tooling for aluminum forming, stamping, and machining processes Partner with production teams to troubleshoot tooling issues and drive process improvements Conduct root cause analysis on tooling failures and implement corrective actions Support new product development through tooling feasibility, prototyping, and design validation Collaborate with external suppliers to source, build, and test tooling components Select appropriate materials and fabrication methods based on application and volume Ensure tooling meets tight tolerances, surface quality standards, and safety requirements Maintain detailed CAD models, tooling documentation, and revision histories What You BringBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field 3+ years of experience in tooling design within metal forming, stamping, or similar environments Strong proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) Hands-on knowledge of: Aluminum alloys and material behavior Press tooling and stamping operations Manufacturing documentation and quality systems Experience with tooling failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with production, engineering, and suppliers Strong Differentiator (Highly Valued Experience)Experience with compound dies or progressive die tooling is highly valued and will set candidates apart in this role.
