5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80 schedule may be used based on project needsClearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q ClearancePosition Title: Senior Quality Control EngineerWorking Title: Mechanical / Piping / Welding Inspector🚫 Mandatory Experience Requirement – Read Before ApplyingCandidates must meet the following requirements to be considered:Must have practical quality control inspection experience in mechanical, piping, and welding.Must have prior DOE work experience.Must have prior experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.Must be able to perform field inspections and document inspection results accurately.Must have strong organizational and communication skills.AWS CWI or prior SNT-TC-1A VT Level II certification is strongly preferred.ImpactThe Mechanical / Piping / Welding Inspector will provide quality control support to project and construction teams by performing inspections, surveillances, document reviews, and verification activities to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.This role is critical to maintaining construction quality, ensuring inspection readiness, identifying non-conformances, supporting turnover, and helping project teams meet safety, quality, and mission requirements.Responsibilities and DutiesProvide quality control support to project teams and direct personnel in implementing quality requirements.Perform construction quality control inspections and surveillance activities in support of project and maintenance work.Review design output documents to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and work packages.Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to mechanical, piping, and welding work.Perform field inspections in accordance with approved Quality Control Inspection Plans.Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non-Conformance Reports as required.Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications, and work sequencing within work packages.Identify and document inspection hold points prior to performance of inspection activities.Perform or support inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documentation activities.Review product and process compliance against drawings, specifications, supplied materials, and equipment requirements.Assist in resolving code, specification, and drawing interpretation issues.Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues and provide inspection/test status updates.Review subcontractor quality programs for compliance with established procedures.Attend mobilization meetings and monitor subcontractor activities for proper quality program implementation.Review supplier and subcontractor quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.Assess completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to turnover.Support safety as an integral part of every task and take necessary action to stop work if conditions are unsafe.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 5–7 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas; orAssociate’s degree and 7–9 years of practical experience; orHigh school diploma and 10–14 years of practical experience.Certification with continuing technical training required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities.Prior DOE work experience required.Prior work experience under an ASME NQA-1 quality program required.Practical field experience in mechanical, piping, and welding quality control preferred.Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.Strong ability to review drawings, specifications, procedures, work packages, inspection records, and quality documentation.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation accuracy, and quality compliance.Desired SkillsAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.Prior SNT-TC-1A VT Level II certification.Active or recent DOE L or Q Clearance.Experience performing mechanical, piping, and welding inspections within the past 16 months.Experience reviewing supplied materials and equipment for specification compliance.Experience issuing or supporting Non-Conformance Reports.Experience supporting construction turnover and quality release documentation.Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, project teams, and quality organizations.Ability to foster a work environment focused on safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.Education and Experience RequirementsCandidates may qualify through one of the following combinations:Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 5–7 years of practical construction inspection experience.Associate’s degree with 7–9 years of practical construction inspection experience.High school diploma with 10–14 years of practical construction inspection experience.Equivalent combinations of education, certification, technical training, and directly related inspection experience may be considered.Work EnvironmentThis position is onsite and supports construction, maintenance, and project quality control activities.
